Just Wrong: Schizophrenia In A Shoe

Oh, boy. No single pair of Louboutins has deserved the "just wrong" label more than these patchwork monstrosities. Why do we say "patchwork?" Well, just look at the obvious influence of the Balenciaga rollerblade shoes from what--was that F/W 07 or 06? And then there's the zipper, straight off the Roditas of last year, and then some pointy studs. We know Monsieur Christian is feeling the studs lately, especially after doing the Rodarte shoes seasons back before they went with Kirkwood, but it's ok to give it a rest on a simply lacey pump.

Then there's the lace. Fishnet is good...lace is dodgey. The only thing we're going to praise in regards to these is the manageable heel height. They are wearable, if you're blind. Louboutin must know what a schizophrenic shoe he's got here, for they're only priced at $835 at Bergdorf Goodman in NY--cheap compared to other recent offers.

Seeing Red: Christian's Directorial Debut

Doing a film is pretty much the it-thing to do in the fashion world right now. We blame Karl Lagerfeld and his stabs at short film last year. But if it weren't for him, we wouldn't have Tom Ford' delicious little "A Single Man" and this 8-minute short from our man Louboutin. Called "Psycho-Logic," it's as much a tribute to Hitchcock as it is a celebration of the opening of Christian's Rodeo Drive boutique in Beverly Hills.

For the record, we love how the shadow of the shoe heel mimics the knife in "Psycho," but a woman wouldn't ever be that afraid of a shoe. Rather quite the opposite. Enjoy the appearance of some fetish heels, a preview of the store interior, and cameo by the haute cobbler himself.

Christian Louboutin at The Palazzo

Just a snapshot, or soleshot, of the shoes on display at the Christian Louboutin store in Las Vegas at the Shops at The Palazzo. Practically next door is the massive Barneys New York which also has a huge selection of CLs ranging from the classics to the outrageous one-season only styles.

While the CL boutique had a few of the lace pumps, Barneys had the knee-high lace boot, Paola Botta. And it's only $1,745. The ankle version is $1,155.

Even if we could fit into this impossibly delicate boot without extreme discomfort and pain (CL boots are very narrow), we'd need some sort of sugar daddy or high roller to buy them for us. Or you know, we could just buy a roundtrip ticket to Europe. It's about the same price.
